Você consegue me ver? (Can you see me?, 2020), is a video in a screen capture format that records a video call between two images of the same person. The action is continuous and portrays a face that observes something, that establishes a dialogue without words through eye contact and movements. There is a slight difference in image quality and synchronization between the two front cameras. A self-portrait based on two times, two spaces, two images and one person.

"Nicole Kouts' Você consegue me ver? (2020, 5'23'') captures the uncanny valley between digital doppelgängers. In a video call with herself, Kouts' doubled faces take turns gazing at each other. The slight time delay and image disparity severs one from the other, in an alienated, wordless conversation with the self."
